As usual, there is so much going on in our peerless Port that writing one impression of it is sure to leave out many of the wonderful aromas and flavors that make this such a remarkable wine. As is our annual tradition with the Vat Series, this iteration features wines aged as long as fifteen years. New marries old to build layers and layers of flavor. Luxardo cherries, chocolate tootsie roll, and pfeffernuse cookies are all swirling around, mingling with caramel, blueberry, and even sweet tobacco leaf. Think about the aroma of an unlit cigar. The finish lasts forever, making this treat a terrific end of the night partner to hard cheeses like Mimolette, or Tollhouse chocolate chip cookies.
